Aster Reimagined by Gianenrico Bonacorsi

Created by Merwan in Mécanique Céleste, Aster is one of the iconic characters of this science-fiction series published by Dargaud in 2019.

An independent, combative young woman, she lives in a post-apocalyptic world where the survival of the Pan community relies in part on her physical abilities and her strong-willed temperament. Merwan gives her an instantly recognizable silhouette, designed to convey her wild nature, her agility, and her place within this futuristic world.

In this tribute illustration, Bonacorsi offers his own interpretation of Aster, departing from her usual depiction in the album. The character is shown nude here, placing greater emphasis on her anatomy, silhouette, and the graphic quality of the body. This reinterpretation allows the artist to claim the icon created by Merwan as his own while retaining the traits that define her identity. This approach follows in the tradition of tribute illustrations, where comic-book characters become material for new graphic interpretations.

For this exhibition, we are pleased to present this original illustration by Bonacorsi paying tribute to Aster, the heroine of Mécanique Céleste. A piece of particular interest to collectors of Merwan's work, while offering a personal, more intimate vision of one of the most notable female characters in contemporary science-fiction comics.
