Ratafia, Frédérik Salsedo's Wacky Pirate Crew

The first album in the cult series created by Nicolas Pothier (script) and Frédérik Salsedo (artwork), published by Milan in 2005. The style, still marked by the very childlike humor of its early days, would later evolve toward a more semi-adult tone in subsequent volumes. This page 13 features Romuald, the Captain's second-in-command, a key character in the series for his cynical, offbeat humor. The artwork, particularly polished, stands out for its meticulous rendering of the setting.

For this exhibition, we are pleased to present this original page by Frédérik Salsedo from the first volume of Ratafia. A piece offering a direct look at the artist's artwork at the heart of the creation of this series, which has since become a reference point in 2000s humor comics.
