Michaël Sanlaville - Tunnels - Original page 22

Michaël Sanlaville, the energy of movement at the heart of the page

With Tunnels, Michaël Sanlaville develops an immediately recognizable graphic language, built around movement, rhythm and particularly dynamic staging. After establishing himself with Lastman, the artist continues to explore an exceptionally lively drawing style, in which each panel seems designed to bring the reader as close as possible to the action.

Working in ink, Sanlaville favors a nervous and expressive line, capable of shifting instantly from a moving character to a detailed setting or a spectacular scene. The framing constantly changes, perspectives shift and bodies are placed under tension: the page becomes a true stage, constructed to create a sense of speed and immersion.

Following in the footsteps of Lastman, Tunnels further confirms Michaël Sanlaville’s unique position among contemporary French comic book artists. His original pages combine a high level of technical mastery with an immediately identifiable graphic energy.

Acquiring an original page from Tunnels therefore means owning far more than a published image: it means possessing a unique piece of Michaël Sanlaville’s creative process, bearing witness to his treatment of movement, his sense of framing and the energy that defines his artwork.
