Violet Bond is an environmental artist living in the remote north of Australia. A sculptor, ceramist, and photographer, she draws inspiration from the cycles of the natural world and the wild Australian landscapes.

Violet Bond about this artwork

A significant portion of my life has been spent squinting into the scorching sun.
When my father arrived in Australia, he marvelled at the Sydney sky, describing how the light was unlike anything he had ever seen. Even now, he reminisces about the unique quality of the light and the expansive blue sky. I can only imagine the experience of transitioning from the grey mist of England to this vivid azure sky, so brilliant that you find yourself squinting from the clarity, the colour so piercing the horizon so distinct it feels like you could tumble straight off into the infinite nothingness.
