The softness of Sibylline's brushwork

Sibylline is a French illustrator recognized early on for her delicate, luminous style, often compared to Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha's female figures, both for the grace of her line and her taste for repeating motifs (flowers, stars, animal companions). Freelance straight out of high school, she has collaborated with major studios: Warner Bros (Scoob!), Boom! Studios (Garfield) and Netflix (Cursed, Orange Is the New Black). Her work has also been shown at Achetez de l'Art in 2022 and at Gallery Nucleus in California.

In 2023, she published a book devoted to her career: "Rêverie, The Art of Sibylline Meynet," in which she looks back on her experience in the industry and how she balances commissions, exhibitions and personal projects. Her world, centered on heroines full of charm and softness, comes with a large following: her Instagram account will soon reach 1M followers!

With Aphrodite, Sibylline conjures the Greek goddess of love and beauty in a beautiful gouache on paper. Her delicate line and luminous female figures, which have become her signature, somewhere between contemporary heroines and mythological or fairy tale echoes (think of her witches, or her Snow White), find here a particularly refined expression: the softness of the brushwork matches the grace of the subject.

This gesture stays true to her favorite medium: she even designed, together with the Mossery studio, an educational kit entirely dedicated to gouache to share her technique. Here, the paint matches the mythological grace of the subject with a very personal elegance.
