Jean-Paul Krassinsky on this original cover
• What is the origin of this work?
It’s the cover of my latest graphic novel, De Pierre et d’Os. That book allowed me to explore a new artistic direction, one more focused on emotion.
• Any anecdotes about its creation or reception?
I wanted to create an image truly imbued with the atmosphere of the story. I needed to suggest space, cold, and the very distinctive ambiance of Greenland. I wanted a big breath of fresh air! Before making it, I did around fifteen very different sketches, and when I showed them to my inner circle, this was always the one they chose. Same with my editor, Camille Grenier, who didn’t hesitate for a second.
There was unanimous support for this choice, and readers later confirmed that it was the right direction.
• What are you working on now?
I’m working on a new adaptation of a novel, in a completely different vein, since it will be a contemporary story set in Nancy. I like to vary the destinations!
