T'Zée, Political Tragedy and African Atmosphere

This illustration was created by Brüno for the exhibition held on the release of his album T'Zée: A African Tragedy (Dargaud), written with Appollo.

The dictator T'Zée has lost power. Deep in the jungle, in his deserted palace, his inner circle hesitates over what to do next. Is it still possible to reclaim control of the country? Should they flee? The monster's absence leaves a void, and nature abhors a vacuum. Bobbi, T'Zée's young new wife, seems at a loss, both over what steps to take and over her conflicted feelings for her stepson.

Brüno visited the Congo. Appollo lived there. Together, they draw on their impressions and memories to build an unnamed yet remarkably distinctive African country. It is the setting for a tragedy evocative of Racine's Phèdre, bringing together every element needed to make T'Zée a memorable album.
