The Worlds of Tex Avery and Walter Lantz

This original illustration is Brüno's tribute to the great classics of American animation from the 1940s and 1950s, drawing in particular on the worlds of Tex Avery and Walter Lantz (the creator of Woody Woodpecker).

The piece juxtaposes two famous cartoon duos, rendered in a clean black-and-white style.

On the left: Tex Avery's big, hungry wolf, drooling over the famous guard bulldog (often named Spike or Butch, depending on the studio), already picturing a sumptuous feast of meat.

On the right: the little chilly penguin Chilly Willy (created by Paul J. Smith for the Walter Lantz studio), perched on his ice floe beside his eternal partner in misadventure, the polar bear Smedley.
